Melanin Spot Eraser

A stabilized derivative of kojic acid that inhibits tyrosinase, the key enzyme involved in melanin production. Compared to pure kojic acid, derivatives offer improved stability and reduced irritation potential while maintaining depigmenting efficacy. Commonly used in the treatment of melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and sun-induced pigmentation.

A glycosylated derivative of hydroquinone that inhibits tyrosinase activity in a controlled manner, thereby reducing melanin synthesis. Although structurally related, alpha-arbutin is not hydroquinone and does not exert the same cytotoxic effects on melanocytes. It demonstrates greater stability and a lower irritation profile compared to hydroquinone. Alpha-arbutin is commonly used at concentrations between 1–2% in cosmetic formulations targeting uneven pigmentation.
